On September 28, it was announced that Lovesick Girls will be the title track off their album, The Album. On September 27, it was announced that BLACKPINK will be holding a comeback live event on October 1. It will be the final part for their 3-part comeback after " How You Like That" and " Ice Cream". On July 28, YG dropped a teaser image and the album cover for their long awaited studio album, titled BLACKPINK The Album or THE ALBUM set for release on October 2, 2020. On August 21, it was revealed that they will be collaborating on the track "Ice Cream." Later, the song was confirmed to feature American solo artist Selena Gomez. Reporters also suspected they would collaborate with Selena Gomez, but no official statement had been announced. It is the 2nd part in the 3 step comeback. YG dropped a colorful teaser with the girls above and an empty space with the word "Featuring". On July 23, it was revealed BLACKPINK was gearing up for another single in their 3 step comeback after their successful " How You Like That" release. Finally their full length album was revealed to be released in September with no exact date. The second song was a new kind of song scheduled for a release in late July or August. Their first song was to be released in Mid-June as a pre-release single. YG revealed that BLACKPINK had recorded more than 10 new songs for their upcoming album. It will begin in June with the pre-release single " How You Like That" and end in September.
On May 18, 2020, YG Entertainment revealed BLACKPINK would be doing a three part comeback.
